Crystals – Why I love Them and How They Can Improve Your Life

Blogtober day 7

Welcome back to my blogtober challenge! I am so happy that I have managed to post every day so far (even though it’s still early days yet). Anyway, lets get on with today’s post.. CRYSTALS!! I’ve never really thought about writing a post about crystals until recently when I was writing up my mission statement for my blog, from that I have added more topics based on my new blogging goals and aims which include sharing information and tips on self-love & self- care and living a happy, high vibe lifestyle. And crystals are up there with one of the best tools I use daily to help me stay happy so I thought I would share my experiences and how crystals have definitely helped me live a high vibe, joyful life. Just be careful though as crystal collecting is very addictive! There are so many pretty, unique crystals, I spend so much buying different crystals that I just need to add to my display.

I have been collecting crystals for a few years now and find them so beneficial! Now I couldn’t live without my crystals they bring so much clarity and peace into my life. At first, I would just admire their beauty, colours and shape, it wasn’t until I started on a more spiritual journey that I carried out the proper research on crystals and how they can assist with healing us through their energies. I was obsessed with crystals and learning about them, and from that I decided to invest in myself and took the leap to study a crystal healing diploma so I could learn all about crystals and understand the history and geology, how to use the crystals holistically and how to pick the right crystal depending on how you feel.

In this post I will write about the top 5 beginner crystals I think everyone should start with for their crystal collection, how to use them, and how to take care of and store your crystals.

First of all though a little bit of crystal history.

Crystals are all forms of energy with their own vibration and frequency just like everything in the universe and it is believed that these energies can alter and raise our vibrations making us feel happier and more positive.

Crystals have been used by many ancient cultures, back in the Egyptian days the semi-precious lapis lazuli crystal was worn by Tutankhamun & Cleopatra the Egyptian Queen and other kings and goddesses as it was believed to be a powerful healing stone and was used mostly for health and protection. Many other ancient cultures also used crystals for their healing properties including Native Americans, Romans and Ancient Greeks, some crystals were carried around in the form of amulets, jewelry, cosmetics and art.

I use crystals on a daily basis, sometimes I will be drawn to a certain crystal and will carry that in my pocket all day or I choose a crystal that I know will help me with whatever I need to face that day. Recently I took a tigers eye to my theory test for luck, I took fluorite to university to help with focusing and learning, I bought sodalite for when I was speaking at a book festival to help with public speaking and I take an amethyst tumble stone regularly on my driving lessons to help with protection, anxiety and nerves. (Trust me they are fab!)

I have written a round-up my top five favourite crystals that I think everyone should start off their collection with!

Amethyst is a great crystal for anxiety and can be used to bring calmness in stressful situations. It is believed that amethyst is a natural stress reliever and helps balance emotions.

How to use amethyst – Wear as a necklace to help stay calm and stress free. I love this one here for under £10

Amethyst also helps with nightmares and insomnia, putting an amethyst crystal under your pillow at night is said to ward off any nightmares and helps the user have a relaxing night’s sleep. These palm stones are great for putting under your pillow at night!

Tigers Eye

Tigers eye is a beautiful earthy stone with its stunning golden and brown flash like stripes when you move it. Tigers eye is said to bring luck and protection to anyone who carries the crystal, it is also a crystal for personal power and helps with courage and self-discipline.

How to use tigers eye – keeping a piece of tigers in your purse or wallet is said to bring prosperity and abundance into your life. – I keep this cute tigers eye love heart in my purse

Rose Quartz

known as the love and compassion stone by many, rose quartz is my favourite crystal of all I think, I have so many different rose quartz pieces and just love every single one of them! Rose quartz can help heal your heart and boost self-love and self-esteem. This crystal really is a musthave for every beginner’s collection!

Or carry a chunk of rough rose quartz like this to attract love into your life.

Black Tourmaline

This is a very protective and powerful crystal, it protects against negative energies and electromagnetic energy. it also helps purify and cleanse our homes, body and soul.

I have a piece like this in my main room in my home

I also wear a black tourmaline chip bracelet if I know I will be dealing with negative people to help block the negativity. You can get one here

Clear Quartz

Clear quartz is known as the master healing stone and if used with any other crystal it is said to amplify the energies of that crystal. Larger pieces of Clear Quartz can act as a charger for other crystals by placing them on top or next to the quartz piece, this is due to the powerful energy and vibrations emitting from the clear quartz.

How to look after your crystals

I keep my crystals on a display shelve out of the sun as some crystals can fade if they are exposed to direct sunlight for too long including amethyst and rose quartz (and most pink and purple crystals.)

Many people believe it is beneficial to charge and cleanse your crystals, some people cleanse them after every use by smudging them with incense or similar. You can charge your crystals by placing them directly under the full moon to rid any negative energies or using the energy from the sun making sure you move any that can fade after a few hours.

Over the years of studying crystals, I have found one must-have crystal book that is great for beginners (and more knowledgeable healing practitioners) It is a great read that is filled with valuable tips on how to connect with your crystal and helpful crystal meditations guides.

I hope you’ve learnt something new about crystals and how they can have a positive impact on our life by raising our vibrations. I would love to hear from you if you use crystals or if this post has inspired you to try out crystals to improve your life!

Until next time
